Bohol’s Most Pristine Beaches

By in Bohol Travel Guide

Bohol is worth considering for your next tropical vacation for many reasons. Aside from the most well-known tourist spots in Bohol, including the Chocolate Hills and the Philippines Tarsier Sanctuary, the island is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the Philippines.

Many tourists worldwide, and even Filipinos from different parts of the country, travel to Bohol to witness its beaches’ fine sand and clear waters. If you’re considering a trip to Bohol, check out this list of the island’s beaches you can visit for your next summer getaway.

Dumaluan Beach

Dumaluan Beach is a renowned beach on the island with calm waters, fine white sand, picturesque palm trees, and slightly fewer crowds than the more popular Alona Beach. There are beach cottages available for families to rent out and plenty of resorts for overnight or short-term accommodations.

Additionally, tourists are welcome to enjoy the water activities on the beach, such as snorkeling and jet skiing. Dumaluan Beach is located at Bolod, Panglao. It is about 15 minutes away from Tagbilaran City – Bohol’s capital.

Balicasag Island Beach

Balicasag Island, known for its almost perfectly round shape, is a short boat ride away from Panglao Island. The beach is one of the best destinations in Bohol for tourists who don’t mind hanging out and watching dolphins who frequent the area, so locals have set regular morning tours worth catching.

Balicasag Island Beach offers scuba diving and snorkeling for the more adventurous travelers. For the ones just looking for a place to unwind, lush trees border the island, making it one of the most charming and calming tropical paradises to visit.

Virgin Island Beach

Virgin Island, otherwise known as Pungtud Island, is located off the south coast of Panglao. Worth the quick visit, it is usually part of the route when joining island hopping tours and is normally the next stop coming from Balicasag Island.

The island is essentially a sandbar with palm trees. The island often sinks during high tide, but during low tide, travelers are free to walk on the long sand bar and enjoy the view.

The water around is crystal clear, and the sand is purely fine, making it one of the most picturesque beach destinations in Bohol.

Alona Beach

Alona Beach is one of the most famous beaches and an ideal starting point when exploring the beaches in Bohol. Located in the southwest part of Panglao Island, Alona beach spans about 800 meters with fine white sand, a stunning shoreline, and clear turquoise waters.

The beach is perfect for watching the sunset partnered with an elegant dining experience in its conveniently located stretch of restaurants, bars, and shops. Alona Beach is lined with resorts that offer water activities, such as jet skiing, kitesurfing, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Near the beach, a vast reef ecosystem can be seen without professional diving equipment.

Bikini Beach

Bikini Beach, situated at Barangay Biking, is about 8 kilometers away from Tagbilaran City. It’s a beautiful beach with silky white sand and clear blue waters. The water levels change according to the tides, and many colorful coral reef systems live in shallow waters, adding to the beautiful landscape.

Although as beautiful and tranquil, Bikini Beach is often less crowded than the more famous Alona and Dumaluan beaches.

Momo Beach

Momo Beach is nestled in the northern part of Panglao Island, about half an hour from Tagbilaran City. Travelers come here for a quieter experience while still having the option of performing exciting activities with friends like going for a swim, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

The beach is not as commercialized as the rest, but there are still accommodations that tourists can enjoy, like the Momo Beach House. One of the more popular resorts here is an eco-chic boutique resort with amenities, access to water sports equipment, and a cafe that offers alfresco dining.

Anda Beach

Anda Beach can be found in the eastern part of Bohol. It is a little farther away from Tagbilaran City. Other nearby beaches in this part of the island are Quinale and Talisay – all featuring powdery white sand and turquoise waters.

The deep cave pools that are scattered nearby make Anda Beach stand out as a beach destination in Bohol. However, not many travelers go to this area, meaning there are not a lot of establishments as well. The Anda Beach area is mainly visited by adventurous travelers who want to make the most of their tropical vacation by exploring more of Bohol.

Doljo Beach

Doljo Beach offers stunning sunset views and a shoreline that stretches far out during low tide. It is found at the northwestern tip of Panglao Island and is about 20 minutes away from Tagbilaran City.

The beach features beautiful diving and snorkeling spots, like the Doljo Point dive site and Doljo house reef. The beach also has plenty of coconut palm trees and seashells peppering the shores.

Pamilacan Island

Pamilacan Island is a tropical paradise with incredible white sands. It is located south of Bohol, teeming with corals and fossilized seashells.

Similar to Balicasag Island, Pamilacan is also known for the dolphins and whales that live nearby. Tourists who want to dolphin-watch can catch tours between 6 AM to 8 AM, as this is the perfect window with a high probability of marine wildlife sightings.
