Top Island Destinations in the Philippines According to the Department of Tourism

By in Philippines Travel Guide

In a country where you can find some of the most densely populated metropolis in the world, as well as ultra laid-back beachy settings within over 7,500 islands, it makes sense that at least one destination guide is an order. The Department of Tourism has created a wonderful list of the top Philippines islands destinations, and here they are:

Bohol

Bohol, a rising tourist destination is the Philippines’s 10th largest island province, comprising at least 70 islands and islets. Though Bohol is mainly known for its Chocolate Hills due to this enormous natural landmark’s rarity, there is a myriad of exciting and unique things to do here that keeps Bohol’s visitor numbers constantly rising. It is blessed with widespread natural beauty, such as vast mountains and forests, hidden waterfalls, white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, cave pools and exotic wildlife. The average temperature is 82 degrees Fahrenheit, making it a perfect beachy destination year-round.

Boracay

The tiny island of Boracay is a top destination for peaceful relaxation, filled with a touristy and leisurely vibe day and night. It is an informal place that has earned multiple awards from travel institutions. One of its main attractions is its incredibly soft white sand that feels heavenly on visitors’ feet. During the day, one can stroll along the paradise-like beach, enjoy a heavenly massage, or parasail in the island’s perfect sky. At night, enjoy live music and have a sweet cocktail or delicious meal at one of the many establishments that especially cater to tourists.

Cebu

As a highly popular area, Cebu holds the Philippines’ second-biggest metropolitan area. It is a tropical island getaway with all the modernities of the city, such as five-star resorts and luxury living. This eclectic city is made up of more than 160 islands and islets where one can find crystal-clear water, exotic marine life, and attractive beaches.

Palawan

Until relatively recently, Palawan’s vast natural resources and wildlife were only admired by the locals. Seemingly, a boat’s mechanical complications in 1979 led to dropping the anchor near Palawan, where many tourists “discovered” endless inspiring nature, such as large forests, white-sand beaches, tall cliffs, and amazing island views. While Palawan takes an active role in fulfilling tourism needs, it also ensures that its natural beauty is properly preserved via strict government ordinances.
